D.G. ~Shameless Reader~

Book blogger, audiobook lover and shamelessly honest reviewer. Mostly read fantasy, mystery, romance, UF and YA but all genres welcome.

The BFG - Roald Dahl, Natasha Richardson This is a wonderful book to read with children - the story is delightful, whimsical and too adorable for words. There were big laugh out loud moments (whizpopping! LMAO!) and very sweet ones, like when Sophie is reading all the boys dreams.Nathasha Richardson did the wonderful job with the narration and captured both Sophie and the BFG perfectly. However, I'm not sure how it will work if you are listening with children. The BFG speaks funny - children are "chidless", Charles Dickens is Darles Chickens, etc. Of course, this makes the whole story even more hilarious but maybe children will get lost with the narration. Maybe this is the sort of book you read to children so you can stop if they have questions about what everything means.
